The Secret of Your Addiction

The Secret That’s Keeping Your Addiction Alive.

The secret of what has caused and is keeping your addiction alive and active, making it seemingly impossible for you to quit, is within you.

Learning the techniques of relapse recovery is essential; learning a new philosophy of life and how to live it is important; discovering the triggers that lead to relapse and being in treatment with other people who are at Passages for the same purpose as you is important. But if we don’t find out which of the Four Causes created and is keeping your addiction alive—and heal it—relapse is pretty much certain; we will both fail. And make no mistake; when you fail, we fail.

We want to hear your story. We need to hear your story, the real one, and you need to tell it. We’ll help you look for it. Looking for it is number one on the list of things we do best. Number two is helping you process what we find so it ceases keeping your addiction alive.

Sometimes our clients know what their secret is; they are fully aware of it, but the continual pain it causes is too much to bear, and they have no solution. Our therapists will offer solutions that will see you go home free of the need for drugs or alcohol. When you make a friend here—which is the norm—they will sometimes tell you the information you need. It would be most unusual if you didn’t find a “best friend” here at Passages. The people who come to us from different parts of the world are fascinating, happy to find a friend, and generally pleasant. Those who are local from the U.S. are always ready to welcome a friend. You can be one and have one.

Come to us prepared to let your guard down and talk to your therapists openly, with complete protection for your confidentiality. Together, we can end your addiction. Our therapists are experts in leading you to the secret you’re holding on to. You’re not holding onto it deliberately, but because it’s painful, you’ve buried it. We’ll help you find it. If you already know it, we’ll help you through it.

You are not to blame for your addiction or for what you’re going through; your addiction is being caused by one or more of the Four Causes. For a deeper understanding of this philosophy, read The Alcoholism and Addiction Cure .

Don’t come to Passages and go home with your secret still locked inside of you.

Most of our clients have forgotten their original cause because it’s too painful, too shameful, too traumatic, too embarrassing. The relief they experience when the cause is remembered and healed is one of the best feelings in the world. That’s the moment you will know you’ve escaped your addiction. We have seen thousands of clients experience that moment.

The secret isn’t your identity — it’s simply the next thing we’ll uncover and heal together.
